DUET IMPOSSIBLE
Westlife never sung with Roy Orbison, the Sugarbabes never sung with Dusty Springfield, Lulu never sung with Marvin Gaye. It would have been impossible - until now that is. On Duet Impossible Vernon Kay helps make the musically impossible become possible as some of today’s biggest pop stars get a chance to sing a duet with one of their all time idols.
Duet Impossible was a an hour-long, Christmas entertainment special for BBC One produced and directed by Steve Smith for Princess Productions.
Through the magic of modern technology, stars from yesterday make a comeback from the big gig in the sky and perform “live” on stage with stars of today.
The programme resulted in some unique new musical collaborations featuring Roy Orbison & Westlife, Dusty Springfield & Sugababes, Marvin Gaye & Lulu, plus Lulu & McFly, Peggy Lee & Simon Webbe.
There’s a moving rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow from Eva Cassidy & Katie Melua. We also turn back the clock for Boy George so he can sing Karma Chameleon with a younger version of himself from 23 years ago. The programme really does have to be seen-to-be-believed!
